Charlie Field ’06
2024 Emerging Innovator Awardee
The PAA Emerging Innovator Award was created in 2023 by the Punahou Alumni Association to honor and recognize visionary alumni who have demonstrated empathy and forward thinking and provided insight into a better, brighter future for their community and the world. PAA recognizes Charlie Field ’06 as this year’s Emerging Innovator.
A longtime sailor, Charlie Field ’06 has used his at-sea experience, together with his education in ocean engineering at MIT and University of Hawai‘i - Manoa, in his work as a senior engineer at PacMar Technologies. He is a lead engineer on testing programs to design, fabricate, integrate and test systems for amphibious vehicles and unmanned surface vehicles for Department of Defense (DoD) contracts. His familiarity with the ocean and knowledge of hydrodynamics have allowed him to collaborate with other applied engineering divisions to validate analyses, collect data and demonstrate prototypes.
Beyond his duties at PacMar Technologies, Charlie performs outreach activities at local elementary, middle and high schools. He also pursues business development opportunities through conferences and recruits at career fairs.
Outside of work, Charlie coaches the championship Punahou sailing team and is an offer of the O-Men.
