Hugh Tennent '65

As a student, Hugh Tennent '65 didn't always realize how fortunate he was to attend Punahou. But after celebrating his 50th Class Reunion last summer, he chose to set up an endowed financial aid fund through his estate plan in honor of his parents, Valentine '37 and Jeanne Tennent, who made it possible for him to have a wonderful childhood.
Tennent's father also attended Punahou and was the son of renowned artist Madge Tennent. He met Jeanne, originally from Fresno, California, at the outbreak of World War II and the two remained married for 60 years. "My parents both worked hard to provide the best for their children. They were very kind, very smart, very dedicated and very disciplined."

Tennent chose to support financial aid "because I realize how very lucky I was. This provides an opportunity for kids who are highly qualified and want to make something of their lives. I want to make it possible for others to get the opportunities I had."
